London Fashion Week 2017 Highlights

London Fashion Week 2017 kicked off on February 10 with the London Collections Men event and will continue until the 14th. This year’s show spotlighted new talent and established designers such as H&M, Acne Studios, and Burberry.

While most events occur at London’s iconic Southbank Centre, a few have been moved to more intimate venues to give attendees a closer look.

Here are five of our favorite fashion week highlights so far:

  1. The H&M show was an excellent introduction to British fashion designer Anouska Hempel. Her collection featured feminine silhouettes with a modern edge and was inspired by the Seventies Scandinavian style.
  2. The Acne Studios show showcased the creative direction of creative director Nicola Formichetti. Models walked the runway wearing deconstructed or reconstructed clothing which took elements from military uniforms and medieval dress to create an ethereal look.
  3. This year, Burberry made a strong impression with its luxurious presentation of ready-to-wear collections for men, women, and children. Models wore sheer blouses and delicate skirts adorned with intricate beading, while headpieces resembling bird’s nests adorned some models’ heads.
  4. Amongst the more unusual shows were those by Sonia Rykiel and Erdem Kiral, which told diverse stories through their designs one featured confectionery-inspired pieces, while another showcased accessories such as headscarves tied into knots reminiscent of traditional Turkish headwear.
  5. One of the season’s most anticipated shows was Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2019 show. The event featured a mix of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections and a presentation of artworks created for the upcoming cruise line. – Fashion Week In London
